Rejuvenation for Moms

Often as mothers, we do and do for our families.  We can feel that we are on the cusp of burn-out.  In honor of Mother's Day, this interactive workshop offers participants the opportunity to step away from day-to-day motherhood and examine three key questions:

1.  How am I experiencing motherhood at this time in my life?

2.  What are my favorite parts of being a Mom, when I am being my "real" self?

3.  How can I grow those, with help from others?

Our speaker, Sheila Martel, is the mother of two "launched" daughters.  She lives motherhood as a spiritual journey, noting that primary relationships are where we teach and learn many of life's most meaningful lessons.  A producer, writer and mentor, Sheila holds three degrees in sociology, women's studies and education.

This presentation explores many facets of wealth creation, starting with our emotions around money.  The way we feel and think about money can have a profound influence over our financial well-being.  Negative money mindset can derail an investment portfolio or sabotage the best laid financial plan.  We will look at how you can raise your financial confidence over the assets you own and some tools that can help you get a better understanding of your net worth.  Next, we’ll explore investment challenges that women face and how gender difference impacts women’s retirement preparedness.  This presentation is interactive and asks the audience to participate in discussions and with worksheets. It aims to heighten women’s awareness of their personal finance and motivate them to take action.

June completed the Georgetown University’s Certificate Program on Financial Planning and obtained her CFP® designation in 2008.  She also earned the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and the Chartered Federal Employee Benefits Consultants (ChFEBC^SM).  She has a Master’s degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University.  She currently serves on the CFP® Board, Council on Education.
