- the Maryland Mortgage Mama

and a EFT Practitioner

I am married with 3 children, two grown sons (23 and 24) and one daughter (9). I am known as The Maryland Mortgage Mama. I started in the mortgage business in 2001, after many years of outside sales, when I joined my sister’s contract mortgage processing company. There I learned the best way to present a stack of papers to an underwriter to tell a borrower’s story for an effortless approval. In 2006 I began working as a mortgage originator/loan officer with my brother Tony, who I affectionately call my numbers guy. Between the two of us, not only can we meet you and anyone you refer to us where they are, you will be hard-pressed to find us missing in action. We work with clients to not only determine the “right now” financial picture, but to make sure that the loan we provide fits into long term financial goals.

My mission is to provide smooth, enjoyable and stress-free transactions. I believe that communication is the key to making that happen. You won’t have to wait days or even hours for a return call, text or email. Great service doesn’t matter without competitive rates and fees, as well as a wide variety of loan products. Of course you need someone with honesty and integrity, we’ve got all that covered!

Growing up, I always wanted to be a nurse or a teacher. I have satisfied the teaching itch through my mortgage business by helping clients to understand credit, budgeting, and home financing. Most recently I began teaching first time homebuyer classes and speaking to groups of real estate agents about growing their business through personal and property marketing. The healing itch is being satisfied through the use of EFT, emotional freedom technique, also known as tapping.

I have been interested in, dabbling in, and training in EFT for more than 15 years. Through workshops, masterminds and courses, I have earned multiple certifications (most recently my Master Certification as an EFT practitioner through the AMT) and have grown my knowledge base to help folks in many aspects from physical pain, emotional eating, dealing with stress and blocks to abundance in all areas of their lives.

My intuition and expertise has grown over the years as I have worked with relatives, friends, tapping buddies and clients. Though I have considered the idea of going full time as an EFT practitioner, for now I have decided to focus my primary efforts on the mortgage business, because I love helping people to find the right loan for their situation. Tapping is a wonderful technique that has allowed me to do a lot of personal healing in addition to helping others to heal and grow.

I AM working on beginning some group masterminds/teleseminars using tapping to help women to release fears and money blocks for business growth. I look forward to sharing this amazing technique.

Bridget McGee
Mortgage Loan Originator, NMLS 196068

Corridor Mortgage Group
1825 Dundalk Avenue Ste 101
Baltimore, MD 21222
Direct: 443.574.2560
Cell: 410.960.2061
Fax: 443.574.2561
bmcgee@corridormtg.com
www.Marylandmortgagemama.com

check out my blog: www.activerain.com/bmcgee

If you know of anyone who might benefit by working with Tony and I on the purchase or refinance of a home in Maryland, don't hesitate to make an introduction. Dr. Naett Asgill, OBGYN

Medstar Montgomery Medical Center

On the heel of Dr. Wood's presentation on alternative healing last month, this month we are hearing from a traditional medical practitioner about how to take care of our body and stay healthy as we age. Think about it - we spend most of our time taking care of others, it is about time we take care of ourselves as well.

Our August speaker is Naett Asgill, MD, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist from MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney. She will be covering many issue women face as we age. The truth is, without a healthy body, we feel sluggish and our business and family life would suffer as well.

Dr. Asgill enjoys giving back to her community and has participated in many volunteer activities, including the reproductive health advocacy project by the Institute of Women & Ethnic Studies in Atlanta and the Cuba Medical Mission. Her approach to her patients is one of diligence, solutions, and relief.

Come with questions and share your solutions. It will be a good way to get ready for a new school year.

Yihung Mohs - the Starter

My Story
I have been in action from international government agencies to corporate America, from retail franchise to nonprofit organizations in the past 20 years. I am passionate about creating products and services that bring meaning and values. I am passionate about getting things started and making things happen.

Having successfully launched, sustained and sold my franchise store when every competitor in the area folded, I was asked "how did you do it?" by all who try to become the 40% that do not fail in the first 3 years. I know I can help, and that's how I came up with Good for My Business.

What is Good for My Business
As small business owners, we need to have professional help but we can’t always afford it, and we don’t always know where to look. On the other hand, when it comes to promoting our own products and services, we often rely on costly giveaways and networking. The challenges for buying and selling effectively can be daunting for start-ups – no wonder 60% of businesses fold within the first 3 years.

GoodforMyBusiness.com can solve these problems because you will be given the knowledge and support to make each purchase a smart investment. Your referrals will continue to work for you long after the networking meet & greet. Your “giveways” will actually generate income to cover your cost – and will be purchased by serious buyers only. Finally, all participating sellers are required to be associated with a reputable networking group so you will get to know their community as well.

Yihung's Bio
Prior to her near decade of experience with franchise businesses, Yihung was the Director of Internal Events and Projects with Discovery Communications. During her 14 years with Discovery, she coordinated the launch of China Project with China Central Television and China Educational Television, and bridged the cultural gap between the two countries and two economic systems.

Yihung started at Discovery from the ground up as an intern in 1992 when she studied for her Master of Arts at University of Maryland, College Park. Her original goal was to return to her native Taiwan to continue her glamours job as a travel show host. Her plan changed when she fell in love with the US and with her husband, Kevin Mohs, a fellow television professional, now an executive at National Geographic Television.

Bragging rights
Marine Corp Marathon 4:08 finisher.
Becky
Roth walked us through the elements of emotional IQ. What does it mean to be able to deal? to be resilient? to be flexible? Knowing ourselves is often half the battle to become successful.

Becky’s passion is to help us answer that precise question. Through her school years (triple minors in psychology, communications and theater from University of Pittsburgh), and her corporate careers (employee assistance / work life programs), Becky solidified her conviction in becoming a Career Life Coach. Becky Roth Coaching was born in 2011, and it has been growing ever since.

Why are people flocking to coaches? Since about a decade ago, along with technology advancement, job market has seen a dramatic change in mobility - where, how and when we work. As a result, we may go through several careers vs. staying with one company for life. Career coaches became popular to guide us to go through these changes.

Mobility also changed the way we look for jobs. It used to be that we wait for a suitable job opening, then we apply for it. But now, proactive is a must. We have to say the right things to the right people at the right places - online and in person - to find the right fit. What is “right” for us? Career coaches can help us find the answers.

Becky puts it succinctly - know yourself, learn where to be and what to say, devise a plan and follow through.

Becky attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with minors in Psychology, Communications and Theatre. She received a Masters of Social Work from the University of Maryland specializing in occupational social work. Becky is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker in the State of Maryland, and she has earned certifications in EQ-i and EQ 360 assessments and various organizational development programs.

Becky completed her Certified Professional Coach training with the College of Executive Coaching and the International Coaching Federation.

Coaching services include:

· Job Search Strategies
· Networking Strategies
· Interviewing Techniques
· Strengths and Values Exploration
· Effective Communication Strategies
· Increase self-awareness
· Resume Development
· Life Coaching
· EQ-i and EQ-1 360 assessments

Becky Roth Coaching

Sometimes life takes us on a little detour to get to where we are meant to be.

Donna
Dettling’s journey to becoming a Professional Organizer started with a
career in accounting that spanned more than three decades. She fell
into that profession purely by chance, and like many good employees,
Donna gave her best at work but knew being an accountant was not her
ultimate calling.

The wake-up call came when her corporate
accounting position was restructured. All of a sudden Donna had a
chance to decide what she really wanted to do. Instead of finding
another accounting job, she chose to reinvent herself completely.

Her
first steps of taking on this midlife transition were to re-examine her
passion internally and her options externally. Under the guidance of a
transition coach (resulting from her savvy negotiation as part of the
exit package), Donna reviewed her strengths, skills and personality
traits. She took note of the career choices made by people around her,
including her father who was a business owner. After much soul
searching, Donna decided that running a Professional Organizing business
was a perfect fit for her.

Fast forward three years, Donna is
now solidly staking herself as a Professional Organizer in the
Washington, DC area (she has even made it into the Washingtonian
Magazine), bringing calm and order to homes and offices. The transition
process was not always easy, but with a step-by-step deliberate
planning process, a good coach and a nurturing support system, the quest
of finding the place she is meant to be has made Donna a much happier,
more fulfilled woman.

So, what’s Donna’s strategy for making it as a Professional Organizer?

1.
Build the customer pipeline by consistently attending networking
events. Donna attends at least one networking event every week.

2. Know that there will be valleys and peaks. Donna tries not to get too worried about the highs and lows of the business.

3. Manage downtime productively. Donna uses her quiet time to write blog postings and brainstorm about marketing.

4.
Find your niche. Donna has a particular gift of calming her clients who
may be going through a life-changing event. She brings them peace of
mind.

5. Diversify revenue streams. Having established herself as
an in-home Professional Organizer, Donna is now looking into providing
her expertise virtually as an Organizing Coach.

6. Get training
from groups such as National Association of Professional Organizers
(NAPO). Donna keeps her profile accessible and her skills sharp by
belonging to the trade group.

7. Keep an eye on the latest
trends, products and ideas for motivation. Donna checks out Pinterest
for new ideas to keeps things fun and inspiring for herself and her
clients.

8. Be ready with tools. Donna keeps her supplies - bins, label maker, tapes and more - with her on every client call.

9.
Have a good support system. Donna enjoys being a member at support
groups such as Moms Inc. and On Purpose Network, where like minded
business women help each other grow.

Looking ahead, Donna is
seeing the change in how people feel about their “stuff”. While the
older generation tended to accumulate possessions - perhaps due to
enduring the scarcity caused by the Great Depression, the younger
generation has less
attachment to physical properties, especially with rapidly changing technology.

Connecting
to people and helping them design and create a place that is unique to
their style and helpful to their daily lives is what makes Donna so
happy about her chosen profession.

The Truth About Money

Kaito Bangudi is the founder of In a Certain Way, LLC, a seminar and training
company focused on helping individuals and small business owners improve their
financial results. Kaito is a graduate of the University of Louisville in
Louisville, Ky and holds a bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Pan
African Studies.

What he didn’t learn until after school was that a
college degree didn’t necessarily equal a one-way ticket to Wonderland. He soon
began studying various topics around money and wealth creation in efforts to
improve his own financial standing. Things changed permanently for Kaito after
he was taught and mentored by multimillionaire income acceleration coach, David
Neagle.

Finally armed with the awareness of what lies behind wealth
creation and knowing that his passions lie in the areas of teaching and
learning; Kaito listened to his heart walked away from his job of 11 years with
the Federal government. He followed his true calling: to educate and raise
awareness around the truth about money. He does this primarily by helping people
tap into their passion and turn that passion into an income. The fact is with
the right information and understanding, we can all live the lives and make the
contributions that we were placed here to make. Kaito sees it as his mission to
help all who are interested live lives of purpose, passion and profits.
about Nancy - her love and support spread wide and deep beyond we could ever

Jamie Ratner - CEO of Certifikids Share the Secret - September 18You can make the most amazing product in the world, but if nobody knows about it, it won’t sell. Marketing your business can be both challenging and expensive. As a small business owner, finding creative ways to reach your customer is key. The daily deal sphere can be a great tool in your marketing efforts, if you know how to successfully work with these sites.

CertifiKid is a leader in the family-focused daily deal market. CEO, Jamie Ratner has built this business from a kitchen table idea into a bi-coastal success, and gained a wealth of information along the way. She will share how to successfully use daily deal sites as a marketing platform for your business, no matter what your business is.

A lifelong expert in finding a great deal, Jamie started a blog as a way to share her tips and find a little “mom time” for herself. After months of curating savings for her readers, it became clear to her that none of the deal sites were focusing on what families wanted or needed. While she would love a massage at half off, she doubted the spa would welcome her two toddler entourage. Literally at her kitchen table, the idea for CertifiKid was born. Build a daily deal site that took care of families, while helping support local businesses too.

Three years later, CertifiKid is multimillion dollar business, employing local parents and supporting small businesses in eight cities from coast to coast. CertifiKid has helped millions of families save, and thousands of small businesses earn, money. Jamie considers it part of her mission to help small businesses find successful ways to work with deal sites.
April 17 Rountable TopicMoms Inc. has signed up for a table at Celebrate Mama in Rockville (11 - 4 on April 27), so all members are welcomed to bring in flyers and business cards for display. Meanwhile, if you have marketed your service at a fair, you know there is MUCH behind just showing up to make it a success.

Linda Quinones is an independent Director with the Pampered Chef. She has been
with the Pampered Chef for 18 years and has trained over 100 new consultants to
start their own Pampered Chef businesses. She attracts new customers through
vendor events. She will share her expertise on selecting a vendor event, and
how to make the most of the event, before, during and after.

Kathy Kitts is the Founder & CEO for NeuGrowth - Center for Brain-Training. She will bring
a different angle to this topic: why get a vendor table at an event at all? And how to make your money back even before the event happens.

For the past 24 years, Kathy has been involved in creating brain stimulation programs for babies and kids. She has also created classes and summer camps for kids in places like The Smithsonian Associates, Maryland Science Center, and The Levine School of Music. She enjoys speaking to groups about her experiences. She started applying the programs with her own two kids, now 24 and 19, who benefitted enormously. Her latest offering is an after-school program called GlobalKids! where kids “visit” countries around the globe, trying on traditional clothes, sampling food, learning songs or dances, and doing some art projects while practicing a few words in the language of that country. Ms. Kitts also offers seminars and workshops to corporations and nonprofits.

Additionally, Kathy has a new radio program called, "The Resilient Brain,” which airs Saturdays at noon on Perfect World Network Radio. You can listen in by going to www.PWNradio.net/search/KathyKitts. That has been a lot of fun! Ms. Kitts is currently learning about TV production and plans to one day create a television show for parents of babies and preschoolers.

Ms. Kitts earned a degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences and Microbiology from University of Maryland. She learned about the brain and very early learning at The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to her two sons and husband, she has a Jack Russell Terrier named Skippy, and 3 cats.

She hopes to continue spreading the word about the incredible opportunities we have to help our kids, and the incredible potential all babies have!

Come join in the roundtable discussion with your questions and input!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16970278179672866744noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3409160684893295483.post-35799938610394682302013-03-13T18:01:00.001-07:002013-03-13T18:10:16.197-07:00March 20th Member Presentation: Marsha Smith on "SuperWoman Syndrome: I’ve Fallen but I’ll Get Myself Up, Thank You!!!"
