Jessica McFadden is the writer and creator of A Parent in Silver Spring.com, a resource website for families in the Washington, DC area. On her blog, she seeks to inform and entertain her fellow parents with a calendar of events, reviews of local offerings, giveaways and humor. A Parent in Silver Spring has been featured in Forbes, The Washington Post, Maryland Life and was Voted Washington DC's Best Local Blog by Nickelodeon ParentsConnect.

Thanks to the success of her website, Jessica now works part-time from home as a freelance writer, writing for ParentsConnect, The Washington Post and The Washington Times Communities. Prior to beginning her website, Jessica worked as an aide in the United States Senate and as a public relations professional. She left the workforce in 2003 when her first child was born, and took a complete professional hiatus until beginning her website in 2008. Her most important gigs are being mom to Charlie, 6, and Eve, 4, and wife to Chris.
